[-empyre-] forwarded from Jorge Luiz Antonio: Comments and thanks
Dear members of Empyre
I would like to thank moderators and participants of Empyre who welcome
my comments on Brazilian New Media Poetry during these days.
Now it is time for Regina Célia Pinto to present her good works I have
been appreciating since 2001, when she edited, with Marcelo Frazão and Paulo
Villela, the electronic magazine ARTE ON LINE.
She decided to offer for members of Empyre's appreciations, the Book of
Marvels, one of the Regina's works I like most, especially because she makes
a rereading of literature masterpieces: in "The White and the Black,
Reflections on Fog" (1999), we can admire an electronic and visual narrative
of Sthendal's work "The Black and the Red"; in "Book of Sand" (2001), it is
a visual narrative from Borges'short story with the same title; in "The
Psychiatrist, Net.art / Web.art and other stories" (2002), we can see a
rereading of Machado de Assis's novel, which treats about the limits of
madness and sanity, from several points of view; in "The Newest Song of
Exile: Sabiá Virtuality" (2003), we can see the Song of Exile in an updated
and expanded interpretation, since the original Song of Exile (Canção do
Exílio), by the Romantic poet Gonçalves Dias; and in "Viewing Axolots"
(2004), we have metamorphosis of images and words in the electronic and
digital media, from the inspiration of Julio Cortazar.
Regina is giving us a significative sample of a good relationship of
Literature and Art in digital media.
The other art I appreciate very much, but I couldn't comment very well
until now, due to my short time to write reviews, is Ale's rereading of
actual artists and poets as Reiner Strasser, Clemente Padin and others.
Thanks everybody for your kind attention and best regards from Brazil
Jorge Luiz Antonio
